Authentic Obsessions Podcast & CCG’s March Exhibition

When it rains it pours (and boy has it been raining in PDX)!
So much happening today - a podcast interview released, another Chroma|Collective|Gallery exhibition launches, and I pick up my new studio keys - all on March 1st!

Authentic Obsessions

Margret Petrie recently interviewed me for her podcast Authentic Obsessions - she describes her purpose for having these conversations beautifully:

Living a creative life can be complicated and beautiful and terrifying and messy.
But you are not alone.
I started this podcast because I needed to hear what drives artists to show up and keep doing the work despite the fears and failures and obstacles.
These are candid conversations.
In between the laughter and the aha moments we talk about obsessions, vulnerability, studio spaces and communities. I hope you hear something that resonates with you and that you continue to be inspired to create.
Acknowledge the mess and keep going!

As I write this, I haven’t yet heard the podcast - and despite very much enjoying our conversation (Margret is wonderful!), I had all kinds of “do over” pangs, after it ended. I reflected on all of the things I shoulda, coulda, woulda said - OBVIOUS things, like describing my artwork (doh!). Margret threw me some softballs that I definitely did not catch. But I DID it, I didn’t bail or push it off until I was “ready” (as I wanted to do). Anyway, I hope you have a chance to listen and enjoy the episode (I hope that I can enjoy the episode without being to cringey!). Maybe there will be another podcast in my future when I can speak poetically and perfectly about all of my artistic muses (ha!). Follow this link to listen, or search for Authentic Obsessions on your podcast app of choice and look for episode #62. Margret’s podcast is a regular studio companion for me, I really enjoy her honest and insightful conversations with artists from all over the world - some of my favorite episodes are with Alison Watt, Nicola Bennett and Stephanie Huellmann, but there are many others. I’ve “met” so many fantastic artists by listening, and have been inspired and motivated by them.

Chroma|Collective|Gallery’s March Exhibition

EMERGE: Come Into View March 1st-31st 2022

Chroma Collective, my fab art pod of six women from five western states, is excited to be showcasing six new talented guest artists in our March exhibition “EMERGE: Come Into View” on view in our online gallery through March 31st. It is our hope that, as the longer, brighter days of springtime unfold, this exhibition coincides with an emergence from our two-year-long hibernation.

With artists from California, Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, British Columbia, Canada and Cork, Ireland represented, you will discover a broad array of interesting, beautiful and colorful fine art. Please check out the exhibition at the link below to learn the backstories of all of these wonderful artists, and to find out about how we all connected.

Lastly - here she is in all of her glory: The Ford Building - 2505 SE 11th Avenue in Portland, where my new studio will reside beginning tomorrow (well, after I schlep everything there over several days)! I’m in studio 215 - it’s a bit rustic, as an art studio should be, and it leaks a little in a southerly-wind-driven rain, but it has14’ ceilings, a giant skylight and a huge wall for painting. I would love to have you in for a visit once I’m at least semi-unpacked, just let me know when you would like to swing by! XO Liz
