This mixed media painting was built up using many layers of plaster, collage, acrylic paint, and glazes. Integrated in the collage layer are plan bits of many different architectural designs conceived for our Columbia Gorge parcel over the nearly 20 years we’ve been planning this project (we’re breaking ground this spring!). I’ve been deep-diving into a weaving course this winter - the graphic overlay on this piece was inspired by a traditional counter soumak weave, which requires a series of paired weft wraps in order to be complete. Making our Mosier dream a reality has required my husband and me to work in tandem for many years, which this technique brought to mind. We’re really looking forward to finally putting roots down in this place that we love.
