signed and dated on the back - wax sealed and ready to hang

Heavily cut and textured plaster is overlaid with collage strips: hand-painted papers alongside bits of a 1939 New York Times paper found within the walls of the house my husband shared with his first wife. In the classifieds were desperate postings by people seeking safe household situations where they could weather out the end of the depression. Painted while helping to care for a sweet friend in his last days of battling pancreatic cancer, I was contemplating all of the family and friends who had come to be by Bill’s side. I found myself very grateful for safety nets of all sorts, and especially thankful for loved ones who rally in times of need.
