Many layers of collage, plaster, acrylic and iridescent glazes are overlaid by delicate circles of metallic plaster. Part of my 2022 No Fear series, base layers of heavily textured plaster read as woven fabric through multiple applications of sanded collage and acrylic paint that have been melded over top. I typically aim to create lots of treasure to bury within my paintings, using plaster overlays to highlight and focus attention on what lies beneath. With this one, the texture created though the build up was too interesting to conceal - instead I’m using the lightest of lacy textures as an overlay for structure and contrast.
